چکیده

Areduction in low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol lowers coronary heart disease (CHD) by 24% to 31% in subjects with prevalent CHD; this reduction occurs with the use of several statins, including simvastatin1 and pravastatin.2,3 Additional reductions in CHD could come from further reductions in LDL cholesterol, as was suggested by the Post Coronary Artery Bypass Graft clinical trial (POST CABG).4 An alternative approach is to attempt to reduce triglyceride levels and to raise levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol.

Update on the use of fibrates: focus on bezafibrate

Low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) is a well established coronary heart disease (CHD) risk factor. However, the ability of this metabolic risk factor alone to identify individuals at rigk for future CHD events is limited. The raised triglycerides-low high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) dyslipidaemia was shown to be an important cardiovascular risk factor independently of LDL-C...

Changes in Serum Levels of FABP4 and HsCRP after Administration of Omega-3 Fatty Acids Separately or + Vitamin E in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease

Background and purpose: Inflammatory markers of A-FABP and HsCRP play an important role in progression of cardiovascular disease. Anti-inflammatory and anti-platelet aggregation effects of omega-3 fatty acids are known. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of omega-3 and omega-3+ vitamin E supplements on serum levels of these inflammatory markers. Materials and methods: This d...

Incomplete drainage of blood and blood fluid from the pericardium and pleura reduces hea...
